Counselling / Psychotherapy

What is psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is about revealing and treating whatever it is that stops you being truly yourself - thus freeing you to be happy and live life to the full.

What can psychotherapy do for me?

There are tried and tested psychological techniques which would enable you to liberate yourself from worries, inhibitions, unhelpful beliefs, fears and past traumas.

We can work through these negative influences together, in a confidential, supportive environment so that you become free to really enjoy life, be the best that you can be and work towards your own goals.

What qualifications do you have?

Degree in Business Studies, Graduate of the Institute of Personnel Management, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, Post graduate Certificate in Psychotherapy and Hypnotherapy - National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy.

Member of the National Counselling Society.

I have also studied Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Jungian Therapy, Gestalt, and Neuro-Linguistic-Programming.   Click here to view some of the certificates.

What form will the Therapy take?

We will meet (usually for one hour a week) at my Practice in Goosnargh near Preston, Lancashire  View Area

I can also visit you at your home.

What happens at the initial Consultation?

You tell me about yourself and your concerns.

I am usually able to give you some idea of what therapies and techniques are likely to be most helpful to you.

You will have the opportunity to ask any questions about me or Psychotherapy

I then usually suggest that you reflect on our discussion and, if you decide to go ahead with Therapy, telephone in a day or two to make an appointment.

There is no pressure whatsoever to go ahead with treatment.

What happens in Therapy?

In our first session, I will ask you to talk freely about yourself, your family background and your life experience to date.

We then begin to look at your objectives and discuss how we should measure our progress in achieving them.

In subsequent sessions, we work on your personal development, regularly reviewing your progress until you have reached your goals.

I will be there to help and support you.

If you want to stop at any time you can

You are in the driving seat; you call the shots; you hold the reins.

Is it confidential?

Yes – my files are securely stored and everything that is discussed in the therapy room stays there.

(The only exception to this rule is if you are likely to cause serious damage to yourself or others; then I would act in whatever I considered to be in your best interests)

What is Hypnosis?

This is a naturally occurring state of deep physical and mental relaxation.

You will sit in a chair or lie on a couch and be guided into this state, when the mind is usually more open to the process of change.

We can then work safely together to enhance your mental, physical and emotional wellbeing and bring about the changes you desire.

Have any of your clients experienced a bad reaction from your Hypnotherapy?

No – I have never had any ‘bad’ reactions from Hypnotherapy; in fact I think that all my clients who’ve tried it have found it greatly beneficial.

Be happy - be genuine - be emotionally mature - be brave - be successful.
